Exploring God’s Creation
“I am sharing Virginia Peck’s Storyline, Exploring God’s Creation, from her Kindergarten class at The Samuel School. Victoria’s Deep Hope is ‘for her students to discover the world through their natural sense of wonder and to realize their unique purpose in God’s created work.’
“I love this storyline because it is deeply connected to the natural inclinations of 4 and 5-year-olds. They are little explorers and are sooooo curious about everything around them. The storyline sticks to virtually all of the content of preschool and kindergarten. As they explored colors at the beginning of the year they explored things in nature and their food that represented the different colors. The class made soup and fruit salad of many different colors. The kids loved the soup more than the fruit salad. As the teacher reflects on her Storyline she said there are many times that she herself is surprised by the things they have to teach her about God and creation through their observations. Now, they are learning about animals and went exploring to find animal tracks in the snow. The storyline lives in the hearts and minds of the students.”
